The third season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” debuts later this year with an air date yet to be announced. That hasn’t stopped Paramount from moving forward with production on what comes after.

The studio released a photo from the show’s set today as production on the fourth season gets underway in Ontario. In April last year, the renewal for a fourth season was handed out.

The new photo shows Ethan Peck, Celia Rose Gooding, and Anson Mount as Spock, Uhura and Captain Pike, respectively, in uniform and on the bridge.

In addition, the shot showcases Uhura’s new look, which includes a much longer hairdo. This is a big change from the very close-cropped style she has been sporting up until now.

However, it is moving towards the varied, larger styles that Nichelle Nichols’ original Uhura wore in the 1960s series. Nichols wore several wigs throughout the series and finally used her real hair in “Star Trek: The Motion Picture”.

It’s not clear when it will air. The first two seasons aired around 10-11 months after their productions wrapped. The third season finished filming in May last year, so it should theoretically be ready for launch whenever Paramount+ sets a date.

As seasons take 5-6 months to shoot, the earliest we’ll likely see the fourth season air is Fall 2026.
