‘Scream 7’ – David Arquette Officially Confirmed to Return

His character may have been killed off a couple years back but that doesn’t seem to matter in this franchise anymore. Deadline reports that David Arquette has joined Scream 7!

David Arquette’s Dewey Riley was infamously killed off in Scream back in 2022, and for what it’s worth, Deadline notes that Arquette is indeed playing Dewey in Scream 7.

How the hell is Arquette back as Dewey, Matthew Lillard back as Stu Macher, and Scott Foley back as Roman Bridger? Scream 7 is getting stranger and stranger by the week…

Deadline notes, “The trio played characters who died in the franchise and are returning in a surprise way. Details regarding how his character comes back and the film’s plot are currently under wraps.” The seventh installment will release in theaters on February 27, 2026.

Neve Campbell is back next year as Sidney Prescott alongside Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, with fellow franchise stars Matthew Lillard, Scott Foley, Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown also set to return.

Franchise newcomers include Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire), Sam Rechner (The Fabelmans), Asa Germann (“The Boys”), Anna Camp (“Hysteria!), Isabel May (“1883”), Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry (The Devil’s Candy) and Joel McHale (It’s a Wonderful Knife) as Sidney’s husband, Mark Evans.

Original Scream writer Kevin Williamson is directing Scream 7.
