Squid Game
The third and final season of Netflix’s smash hit “Squid Game” is rumored to be clocking in at just six episodes – one less than the second season’s seven episode run. The news is not unsurprising as the plan was originally only for a second season – but when it proved too large to contain, they opted to split it. The final season is slated to launch on June 27th. Goodbye June
Kate Winslet is set to make her directorial debut with the contemporary family drama “Goodbye June” at Netflix. Winslet, Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall and Helen Mirren will star in the film.

Penned by Winslet’s son Joe Anders, the story is set in present-day England and revolves around a fractured group of siblings pull together under sudden and trying circumstances. Kate Solomon is producing alongside Winslet and the film will shoot in the UK later this year. [Source: Variety]

WGA
“Shōgun” dominated the Writers Guild Awards on Saturday evening, winning for best drama, best new series and best drama episode. “Hacks” won best comedy and best comedy episode, while “The Penguin” scored the limited series win and “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” the comedy/variety series win.

On the film front, “Anora” won for original screenplay while “Nickel Boys” won for adapted screenplay, “Jim Henson: Idea Man” for documentary screenplay and “The Great Lillian Hall” for telemovie/streaming film screenplay. [Source: Variety]

A Court of Thorns and Roses
Hulu’s proposed TV series adaptation of Sarah J. Maas’s bestselling fantasy series “A Court of Thorns and Roses” has officially been shelved at the streamer. “Battlestar Galactica” and “Outlander” creator Ronald D. Moore was attached to co-write alongside Maas.

The project faced numerous setbacks, including strike delays, grounded the whole thing. Maas is reportedly planning to shop the television rights to other studios and platforms once Disney’s option expires in late summer this year. Bridgerton
Netflix has released a featurette for the currently in production fourth season of “Bridgerton” with the new season expected to put the focus on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).

Fan favorites like Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Eloise (Claudia Jessie) are back in supporting roles and the new season is said to be very “Cinderella”-inspired as it adapts the third book “An Offer From a Gentleman”.
