Playboi Carti's 'MUSIC' Earns Second Biggest Week for Any Album in 2025 So Far

Playboi Carti is opening this week's Billboard 200 at No. 1 with MUSIC.The artist's latest studio effort earns 298,000 equivalent album units in its first week, including 283,000 in streaming equivalent album units (384 million on-demand streams for the songs), 14,500 in album sales and 500 in track equivalent album units. MUSIC currently holds the record for the biggest week for a rap album in 2025 so far, and the second largest overall just behind The Weeknd's Hurry Up Tomorrow from February. In addition, the project gives Carti his second No. 1 including Whole Lotta Red, and his third top 10 effort alongside Die Lit.LE SSERAFIM also debuts in this week's top 10 at No. 9, with 5th Mini Album HOT opening with 45,500 equivalent album units.Elsewhere on the chart, Lady Gaga moves down to No. 2 followed by Kendrick Lamar, Drake x PARTYNEXTDOOR and SZA from Nos. 3 to 5, respectively.
