John Lithgow & Jimmy Smits Will Return in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’

John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits will reprise their “Dexter” roles in “Dexter: Resurrection.”

Lithgow starred as serial killer Arthur Mitchell, better known as the Trinity Killer, in the fourth season of “Dexter” and made a cameo in “Dexter: New Blood.” Smits played Season 3 antagonist Miami Assistant District Attorney Miguel Prado.

Both characters were killed by Dexter, but that doesn’t mean they can’t come back to haunt him.

Currently in production in New York, the new limited series is expected to premiere this summer on Paramount+ with Showtime.

Michael C. Hall will reprise his role as serial killer Dexter Morgan alongside David Zayas as Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, James Remar as Harry Morgan, and David Magidoff as Teddy Reed.

Peter Dinklage will play the season’s main villain, Leon Prater, a billionaire venture capitalist, with Uma Thurman as Charley, a former Special Ops officer who serves as his right-hand woman.

Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris, Eric Stonestreet, David Dastmalchian, and Steve Schirripa will guest star. Other newcomers to the franchise include Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusaand, and Emilia Suárez.

Original “Dexter” showrunner Clyde Phillips returns while fellow “Dexter” alumnus Marcos Siega serves as producing director. He’ll helm four episodes, with Monica Raymund (“Dexter: Original Sin”) directing the other four.

Based on Jeff Lindsay’s novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter, “Dexter” ran for eight seasons between 2006 and 2013. It was revived in 2021 with “Dexter: New Blood.” Hall returned to narrate as Dexter’s inner voice in the prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin,” which debuted in December.
