Jack Black Attends “Minecraft Movie” Screening

Jack Black attended a screening of “A Minecraft Movie” over the weekend at AMC Century City in Los Angeles where he had a clear message for fans – don’t make a mess.

Black entered the auditorium unannounced and initially hid his voice as he announced: “For today’s presentation of A Minecraft Movie, please no throwing popcorn.”

He then began talking in his own voice and was quickly recognized, the crowd going bananas as he showed off an axe prop saying: “Look what I brought.”

The appearance follows in the wake of a wave of viral videos capturing audiences going wild, throwing food and drinks, and trashing cinemas – the rowdy behavior drawing headlines and backlash from various sides.

In one video, someone even brought a live chicken to one of the screenings. Trade organization Cinema United has recently issued a memo of voluntary guidelines indicating that if the “situation escalates, local authorities can be called”. So far only one video has indicated that has happened.

“A Minecraft Movie” has pulled in $552 million in global ticket sales in less than two weeks – its final second domestic weekend tally coming in at $78.5 million.
