SZA Launches ‘Not Beauty’ Makeup Line

SZA is launching her Not Beauty makeup line exclusively at pop-up shops across the U.S. during her and Kendrick Lamar‘s Grand National Tour starting this week.

She’ll debut the first product from her one-of-a-kind lip collection, lip glosses in three signature shades priced at $23: In The Flesh, Strawberry Jelly and Quartz. Not Beauty’s full lineup will eventually include lip stains, lip liners and lip creams. SZA told Vogue she was wearing her own lip gloss during her Super Bowl Halftime Show performance with Lamar, when the dynamic duo performed “All the Stars” and “Luther,” which has been remained atop the Billboard Hot 100 for an eighth week this week (dated April 19).

According to the press release, the packaging finds inspiration from the wild – wood textures, plants, insects and bold natural hues – like the cover of Lana, the long-awaited deluxe edition of her Billboard 200-topping sophomore album SOS. Not Beauty is also cruelty-free, gluten-free and vegan.

“Not Beauty wasn’t about me trying to enter the beauty market, it’s about me filling a need, it’s about me needing something that lasted as long as my show, as long as my conversation, as long as my date,” the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter said in a statement. “There was nothing that existed that did that for me and also made me feel moisturized. I don’t know much about much, but I know a lot about lips, and I feel like Not Beauty is not beauty. It is just something that I wanted to share that worked for me and I hope works for you. It’s really well made. It’s awesome.”

While SZA makes her official foray into the beauty business, it’s not the only first she’s accomplished this year. She made her feature film debut on One of Them Days, also starring Keke Palmer.
