Paramount Pictures has premiered the full-length trailer for Christopher McQuarrie’s “Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning,” the eighth and potentially last film in the franchise.
Shot in the UK, Africa and the Arctic, the franchise needs to things around after ‘Dead Reckoning Part One’ resulted in losses of more than $200 million for Paramount.
Recent reports have suggested this film is approacing $400 million in production costs, thus it needs to be a success for Paramount.
The title will wrap up the storyline involving The Entity that began in ‘Dead Reckoning’ and serve as a capper to the three decades of storytelling of this franchise with various throwbacks to past films.
Plot specifics are under wraps, but one sequence will see Ethan Hunt diving into the wreckage of the Sevastopol submarine. The Rabbit’s Foot from the third film also comes into play somehow.
The film’s cast includes Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Angela Bassett, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, and Frederick Schmidt.
“Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning” opens in cinemas on May 23rd 2025 and is rumored to be having its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
