“Daredevil: Born Again” S2 Details & Casting

“Scream” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s” star Matthew Lillard is set to join the cast of the second season of “Daredevil: Born Again” which is just about to commence production. Specifics of his character are under wraps.

The casting comes as early reactions to the first season went online the other day and so far have been glowing. Actual reviews aren’t out as yet.

Showrunner Dario Scardapane and executive producer Sana Amanat recently spoke with Collider and said they were shocked by how neither Disney or Marvel asked them to pull back on the show’s violence with Amant saying the Marvel execs in particular said: “Go for it. The bloodier, the better, 100%”.

The first season consists of nine episodes with Scardapane indicating around six episodes from the previous iteration survived (Eps 2-7) while they shot the equivalent of three further episodes (Eps 1, 8 & 9) along with “quite a bit of interstitial material inside the body of the middle six”. The modifications to the existing episodes beefed up the action and the relationship between Murdock and Fisk.

The second season however, which will consist of eight episodes, will be entirely from Scardapane and the new team with actor Charlie Cox telling the outlet the new season is “some of my favorite stuff I’ve read of Daredevil… [it] is so cool and so different and so sinister.” The second season is also confirmed to not be written as a finale and so further seasons are possible. The second season is confirmed to be airing next year.
