Though production officially got underway on Monday on Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday,” one reason we’re not seeing another of those casting reveal videos is that the cast hasn’t been finalised yet.
The ball got rolling when scooper MyTimeToShineHello said earlier today: “To answer everyone’s question: yes, there is a script, but they’re going to keep rewriting it every day on set because it’s not done DONE. Like it’s not as good as they would want it to be.”
That was followed up by John Rocha tweeting: “The #Avengers: Doomsday script ain’t DONE done because they haven’t closed all the deals with all the people who’ll be appearing in it. An interesting way to make a movie.”
This isn’t that surprising. Marvel Studios’ films are famous for sometimes undergoing radical changes during both principal photography and reshoots.
Combine that with the sheer amount of very busy people involved here and their respective availability issues, there’s little doubt the film will see multiple scenes and sequences tweaked as the shoot progresses.
The latest rumors indicate several original “X-Men” actors are in talks to return but haven’t signed on yet. Others not yet confirmed publicly, though are expected to appear, include the likes of Chris Evans, Chris Pratt and Tom Holland.
Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely are penning the script for the film, which will release on May 1st 2026.
