“Avatar 3” Made Cameron’s Wife Cry For Hours

Last month, filmmaker James Cameron revealed that the upcoming “Avatar: Fire and Ash” was ‘virtually finished’, dubbing it “maybe the best of the three so far” and confirming he has screened an early version for a few people.

At the time he said the reaction so far has been “definitely the most emotional” of the films, adding it’s “pretty heart-wrenching in a good way”.

It turns out one of those people who has seen it early is his wife Suzy Amis Cameron. The former actress, model and activist sat down with an early version of the film just before Christmas last year and had studiously avoided having seen anything from the movie up to that point despite her ‘backstage access’.

Cameron spoke with Empire about showing the film to her, and it turns out to have been an eventful watch:

“My wife watched the whole thing from end to end – she had kept herself away from it and I wasn’t showing her bits and pieces as we went along. This was December 22nd.

She bawled for four hours. She kept trying to get her s— back together so she could tell me specific reactions, and then she’d just tear up and start crying again. Finally, I’m like, ‘Honey, I’ve got to go to bed. Sorry, we’ll talk about it some other time’.”

The comments follow in the wake of Cameron indicating the other day that the film is likely to clock in at a longer runtime than the 192-minute runtime of the second film “Avatar: The Way of Water”.
