Alan Cumming Says It’s A Fraction Of The Time To Do His Nightcrawler Makeup For Avengers: Doomsday

Actor Alan Cumming says that it takes a fraction of the time to do his Nightcrawler makeup for Avengers: Doomsday compared to previously. Cumming was surprisingly announced as part of the cast on Avengers: Doomsday recently alongside many others. Whilst filming itself has not started, production has and that means makeup tests.

Speaking with Variety Cumming talked about how quickly his makeup can be done compared to the last time he played the role. That was as Cumming says, 23 years ago in the FoX-Men movies.

“Isn’t it nuts? I’m excited and amazed. It’s been 23 years since I was a superhero. I’ve had some makeup tests already for the role, but what’s great about it was that before it was about 4 and a half hours to apply it, but now it’s only 90 minutes. Before, all of the tattoos were done by hand. They hadn’t decided on them before we started filming. Now, they just stick onto my face. It’s a game changer. I’m going back to being a 60-year-old superhero, and everyone seems really lovely.”

I’ve said it before, but the idea of all these old X-Men actors back isn’t exciting me. There’s a reason I wanted Marvel to buy Fox and it was not this. Still, I hope it works well and it’s a good movie. I’m just not that excited by it because I wasn’t a fan of the FoX-Men.

As for Cumming’s comments, I only hope that doesn’t mean it looks like sh**. I’m more used to seeing Cumming as a TV presenter these days. Let’s hope he doesn’t look like a statue trying to move like Nightcrawler in the film. Stewart and McKellen are looking very old these days especially.
