Zurich Airport commercial growth stalls in first quarter
Zurich Airport retail and dining turnover reached CHF131.6 million (US$159.8 million) in the first three months of 2024, a dip of 1.8% on the same period last year. Airside sales climbed by +2.7% but landside sales fell by +7.1%.


SWITZERLAND. Zurich Airport retail and dining turnover reached CHF131.6 million (US$159.8 million) in the first three months of 2024, a dip of 1.8% on the same period last year. Airside sales climbed by +2.7% but landside sales fell by +7.1%.
The figures contrasted with passenger traffic growth of +2.5% year-on-year, with volumes reaching almost 6.5 million.
Airside spend per departing passenger in the three-month period climbed marginally (+0.2%) year-on-year to CHF22.80 (US$27.69).
In March alone, commercial turnover fell by -5.4% to CHF46.5 million (US$56.5 million) while average spend dipped by -2.4% in the month to CHF22.40 (US$27.18).
The commercial numbers lagged slight passenger traffic growth of +0.6% in March, with volumes hitting 2.35 million.
