Zack Snyder’s REBEL MOON Expands With s Comic Prequel Series From Titan

I’m not sure who is still interested in Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, sci-fi universe, but if you’re one of the few still nursing your space-opera hangover from Rebel Moon, get ready to dive even deeper into Snyder’s story, this time in comic form. Titan Comics is dropping a new prequel series titled Rebel Moon: Nemesis, and it's all about the sword-swinging cyborg warrior wfrom the films.Doona Bae’s blade-wielding, partly-mechanical assassin is getting her own origin story, and leading the charge is writer Gail Simone (Birds of Prey, Red Sonja), with art by Federico Bertoni. The creative duo is pulling us into what’s being described as a “revenge western” set in deep space. Simone shared:“I feel like this story was a little bit destined to happen, somehow. My family and I were watching Rebel Moon and really enjoying it, and I just immediately focused on Nemesis. “I loved the badassery of her, but also the way she addressed grief, and recognized it in others. I just was completely smitten with her, and I actually said to my family: Man, I would love to write her someday.“Well, someone was listening because I get this message that Zack would like to talk to me about writing that exact character. Who am I to argue with fate? She’s a powerful, powerful character, she leaps off the page (and screen) and I cannot even explain how much I enjoyed playing in this sandbox.”This isn’t Titan’s first dip into the Rebel Moon universe. Earlier this year, Rebel Moon: House of the Bloodaxe, written by Snyder himself, explored another corner of the sprawling saga. But Nemesis looks to zero in on something more personal, and potentially more brutal.Titan Comics editor Jake Devine said: “I’m so excited for fans to be back in the world of Rebel Moon — there are so many stories yet to be discovered, and the tale of Nemesis and her revenge is one fans won’t want to miss. “Not only does it unwrap the enigma of her character, but it has some epic assassinations, beautiful locations, and badass showdowns. Working with Gail has been a dream and I can’t wait for readers to immerse themselves in this extended universe that she’s created.”This comic actually might be interesting considering Snyder isn’t writing it. I like Snyder as a director, and I love his visual style, but he needs help properly crafting his stories. View fullsize

I’m not sure who is still interested in Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, sci-fi universe, but if you’re one of the few still nursing your space-opera hangover from Rebel Moon, get ready to dive even deeper into Snyder’s story, this time in comic form.

Titan Comics is dropping a new prequel series titled Rebel Moon: Nemesis, and it's all about the sword-swinging cyborg warrior wfrom the films.

Doona Bae’s blade-wielding, partly-mechanical assassin is getting her own origin story, and leading the charge is writer Gail Simone (Birds of PreyRed Sonja), with art by Federico Bertoni.

The creative duo is pulling us into what’s being described as a “revenge western” set in deep space. Simone shared:

“I feel like this story was a little bit destined to happen, somehow. My family and I were watching Rebel Moon and really enjoying it, and I just immediately focused on Nemesis.

“I loved the badassery of her, but also the way she addressed grief, and recognized it in others. I just was completely smitten with her, and I actually said to my family: Man, I would love to write her someday.

This isn’t Titan’s first dip into the Rebel Moon universe. Earlier this year, Rebel Moon: House of the Bloodaxe, written by Snyder himself, explored another corner of the sprawling saga. But Nemesis looks to zero in on something more personal, and potentially more brutal.

This comic actually might be interesting considering Snyder isn’t writing it. I like Snyder as a director, and I love his visual style, but he needs help properly crafting his stories. View fullsize Screen Shot 2025-04-14 at 10.26.51 AM.png
