“Thomas Crown,” “Ella McCay,” “Sisu 2” Set Dates

A couple of key release dates and release windows were announced today.

First up, Amazon MGM Studios’ latest incarnation of “The Thomas Crown Affair” has set a March 5th 2027 release date.

Michael B. Jordan and Taylor Russell will star in this new reimagining of the Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo-led 1999 heist movie, which itself was a remake of the 1969 Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway-led film.

Drew Pearce and Wes Tooke are penning the project which has no direct competition at the box office that weekend, but “Sonic the Hedgehog 4,” “The Legend of Zelda” movie, and “Godzilla x Kong 3” are all slated for the same month.

Next, Disney has delayed James L. Brooks’ dramedy “Ella McCay” by three months – from September 19th to December 12th.

Woody Harrelson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Mackey, Ayo Edebiri, Rebecca Hall and Albert Brooks star in the film about an idealistic young politician who juggles familial issues and a challenging work life while preparing to take over the job of the longtime incumbent governor who was her mentor.

Finally, Screen Gems is releasing the sequel to Finnish filmmaker Jalmari Helander’s gritty World War II action movie “Sisu” with a November 21st theatrical release set for the title.

“Sisu” follows an ex-soldier who discovers gold in the Lapland wilderness and tries to take the loot into the city where he clashes with a brutal SS officer and German soldiers. Jorma Tommila returns in the lead role.
