Hot off all his award wins for “The Penguin,” actor Colin Farrell is in negotiations to return to DC with Luca Guadagnino’s new “Sgt. Rock” film at DC Studios.
The news comes a month after Daniel Craig, who circled the feature project, officially stepped away and is now entertaining a role in Greta Gerwig’s Narnia film. No formal offer was technically ever made to Craig.
If a deal closes, it would put the film back on track for a shoot this summer in the UK.
The comics follow Sgt. Franklin Rock, an infantry non-commissioned officer and leader of Easy Company who managed to participate in every major action in the European part of World War II.
He’s an incredibly skilled fighter and sniper and has both endurance and a borderline sixth sense when it comes to danger. Otherwise, he’s a regular human.
The film has been penned by Justin Kuritzkes (“Challengers,” “Queer”). Like the “Clayface” film, this is expected to be its own thing as opposed to one connected to a larger DC Universe.
