Christopher Nolan’s THE ODYSSEY Adds SONS OF ANARCHY and GOD OF WAR Star Ryan Hurst to Cast

Christopher Nolan has assembled an absolutely massive cast for his next film, The Odyssey, and the latest addition is Ryan Hurst, who is best known as Opie Winston in Sons of Anarchy and the voice of Thor in God of War: Ragnarök.While his role remains under wraps, Hurst joins an already loaded ensemble that includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Jon Bernthal, Mia Goth, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Elliot Page, Lupita Nyong'o, Samantha Morton, Will Yun Lee, Himesh Patel, Benny Safdie, Cosmo Jarvis, and more.Damon is set to portray Odysseus, and all signs point to Holland playing his son, Telemachus. The rest of the cast is still a mystery, though given the source material, Homer’s epic poem, there’s no shortage of larger-than-life roles to fill.Universal has described the film as a “mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new Imax film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to Imax film screens for the first time.”So far, all we've seen from the film is a single official image of Damon suited up in battle gear, staring off into the distance. There are also some set photos that surfaced of Holland. Knowing Nolan, we can expect the movie to be something ambitious, intense, and meticulously crafted. The Odyssey follows Odysseus’ 10-year journey home from the Trojan War, encountering a cyclops, sirens, a sea monster, and more along the way. Meanwhile, back in Ithaca, his wife Penelope must fend off suitors vying for the throne in his absence. The Odyssey arrives on July 17, 2026.
