“God of War” Writer Confirms Two Season Order

The TV series adaptation of PlayStation’s beloved “God of War” video game series has been confirmed to have scored a two season order at Amazon Prime Video.

Recently Peabody-winning genre TV extraordinaire Ronald D. Moore sat down with “The Mandalorian” actress Katee Sackhoff to discuss his body of work on her The Sackhoff Show podcast.

That included his ten years working on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” to both of their work together on “Battlestar Galactica,” to his time on George Lucas’ unproduced “Star Wars: Underworld” TV series, and as showrunner on “Outlander” and producer on “For All Mankind”.

During the chat he touched upon his current gig – as writer, executive producer and showrunner of the “God of War” series. Offering an update on where it stands he says and confirming rumors of a two season order:

“Right now I’m working on the adaptation of this video game called ‘God of War,’ it’s a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they asked me to come in, I’m literally in the writer’s room and that’s my new thing.”

Moore was appointed to steer the show in October after the previously attached talent – “The Wheel of Time” producer Rafe Judkins and “Iron Man” scribes Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus – exited the project after more than two years of development.

That team had completed multiple scripts prior to the changeover, but once Moore came aboard, the project started from scratch with a new creative direction.

The original games follow ex-Spartan warrior Kratos on his perilous journey to exact revenge on the Greek Gods. Under the previous creative talents, the plan was to adapt the 2018 reboot which took place years later and centered on Norse mythology as Kratos exiles himself from his blood-soaked past and raises a son.

As the writer’s room is still in the midst of things, it’s not clear when the series will begin production let alone airing.
