New “Avengers” Secrecy & “Thunderbolts” Ties

Filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo have confirmed that strong measures are being taken to prevent leaks regarding the upcoming Marvel Studios features “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars”.
The comments come in the wake of apparently leaked concept art from an earlier incarnation of the film a few days ago which showed off designs of Dr. Doom and various variants of existing MCU characters.
Speaking with Collider while out promoting “The Electric State,” Joe Russo says that a lot of “Avengers: Doomsday” will be filmed on soundstages in order to prevent pictures being taken: “We don’t want people getting photographs, so we are being pretty stringent.”
He adds that location shoots where they are filming have also been hand picked “with that [secrecy] in mind, as well.” Anthony adds: “We’ve sort of strategized to hopefully be effective with that.” Filming on “Avengers: Doomsday” is slated to kick off next month in the UK ahead of a theatrical release on May 2nd 2026.
The comments come as Empire has done a piece on Marvel’s “Thunderbolts*” opening in May which confirms that the Avengers Tower building from the previous “Avengers” films has now become ‘Watchtower’, the headquarters of CIA director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfuss).
Marvel Studios has meanwhile posted a new one-minute promo for “Thunderbolts*” which takes a more NEON/A24-style approach to its trailer editing along with highlighting the past work of some of the film’s key crew. Check out that promo below.
