“Scream 3” Killer Unclear How He’s Returning

Much of the recent casting news regarding the upcoming “Scream 7” has revolved around how several of the revealed killers from previous films are returning for the new one.

It’s surprising, as in every case, those killers died on screen – and rather definitively, too. This has led to suggestions of either flashbacks, dreams or visions of some kind – not unlike how Skeet Ulrich’s Billy Loomis appeared as a recurring hallucination in the previous film.

We don’t actually know what the plan is though, and it seems neither does at least one of the actors.

Scott Foley was recently cast in the project reprising his role of Roman Bridger, the filmmaker and Sydney’s half-brother who was Ghostface in the third film and was pretty clearly killed.

During an appearance on “Good Morning America,” he was asked about his involvement in the new film and said he has no idea about what’s going to happen to his character:

“I’m willing to take a poll here and someone can explain it to me because I don’t know how it works out. Yeah, my character – spoiler alert – 25 years ago, I was the killer in Scream 3. He was brutally taken to town and killed. Now I’m back in Scream 7, and I’m not sure how it’s going to work.”

The new film will see Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Broen reprising their roles from previous films. Also back are Matthew Lillard and David Arquette whose character’s died in the original 1996 first film and 2022’s fifth film respectively.

The cast also includes Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Joel McHale, Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry, Sam Rechner, Michelle Randolph and Jimmy Tatro.

The new film is being directed by franchise creator Kevin Williamson from a screenplay written by Guy Busick. Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, and James Vanderbilt produce.
