Samuel L. Jackson is set to star in the Tim Story-directed western “Man of War” at Paramount Pictures.
Jackson will play a newly retired and long-revered general who returns to his hometown in rural Georgia after the death of his wife to find it in the throes of corruption, gentrification and racism.
Using battle-honed strategy and combat skills, he’ll wage an all-out war against the town and the billionaire exploiting it.
Sheldon Turner penned the screenplay and will produce with Story and Jennifer Klein.
Story is currently in pre-production on the Kevin Hart-led “72 Hours” at Netflix. That follows a 40-year-old executive who ends up at a three-day bachelor party with twenty-somethings after being mistakenly included in their group text.
Story has already completed the Eddie Murphy-led “The Pick Up” which Amazon will release this year.
