Adrien Brody, Cynthia Erivo Set New Projects

Recent Oscar winner Adrien Brody has reportedly met with filmmaker Damien Chazelle for the role of author and sports promoter Shelly Saltman in the upcoming Evel Knievel biopic at Paramount Pictures.

THR says no official offer is currently out there for the part of Saltman, the 20th Century Fox executive who was viciously attacked by motorcycle daredevil Knievel with an aluminium bat after Saltman penned an unflattering biography of the stuntman.

Saltman was severely injured and Knievel received jail time, lost his endorsements and declared bankruptcy. If Brody signs, he would join Leonardo DiCaprio who is in the midst of doing a deal to play Knievel in the film which William Monahan (“The Departed”) is writing. Filming on the project, rumored to be titled “Evel Knievel on Tour,” could begin as early as this Summer.

Speaking of the recent Oscars, nominee Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked”) has reportedly joined the action thriller “Karoshi” at Lionsgate according to Deadline. Takashi Doscher is directing from his own script.

The film is dubbed a corporate thriller with a samurai twist, but further plot details and role specifics are under wraps. Erivo will shortly be seen in the second season of Peacock’s “Poker Face,” has “Wicked: For Good” opening in the Fall and is currently shooting Gina Prince-Bythewood’s “Children of Blood and Bone”.

Teo Yoo (“Past Lives”) and Isabel May (“1883”) co-star in the film which Chad Stahelski, Alex Young and Jason Spitz will produce. Filming begins in June.
