It seems the new Karate Kid is short. More specifically, “Karate Kid: Legends” is set to clock in with the shortest runtime of any film in the franchise to date.

The new film, which sees Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han and Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso coming together on screen, reportedly clocks in at 94 minutes according to the AMC Theatres website.

In comparison, the 1984 original clocked in at 127 minutes, its sequel was 113 minutes, the third film was 111 minutes, and the Hilary Swank-led “The Next Karate Kid” was 107 minutes. The 2010 reboot remains the longest to date at 140 minutes.

Meanwhile, Box Office Theory reports that the film has hit long-range tracking and is on track to pull in $45-58 million in its first three days with the site suggesting a $47 million figure is the most likely case.

The film hits May 30th, the weekend after the Memorial Day holiday, with the only other opener that day being Wes Anderson’s “The Phoenician Scheme” which will be a limited release targeting a $1 million start.

It will still be facing off against the still-going-strong “Lilo & Stitch” remake and “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning”, which both open on May 23rd.

Ben Wang and Sadie Stanley co-star in the film directed by Jonathan Entwistle. Wang plays a kung fu prodigy who relocates to New York City with his mother to attend a prestigious new school. Driven by a desire to defend himself, he embarks on a journey to enter the ultimate karate competition.
