New Details On “Buffy” Star Trachtenberg’s Death

Nearly two months after her passing, the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner has ruled on the cause of death of former “Buffy,” “Gossip Girl” and “Harriet the Spy” actress Michelle Trachtenberg.

THR reports that according to the medical examiner’s office, no autopsy was performed. However, toxicology test results provided additional information surrounding her cause of death being due to complications of diabetes mellitus.

The actress was found dead in her New York City apartment in late February by her mother, with her family previously objecting to an autopsy for religious reasons. Her death was ruled as natural.

Trachtenberg appeared in dozens of projects throughout her career, most notably as Dawn Summers in the final three seasons of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” socialite Georgina Sparks in “Gossip Girl,” and as the lead in Disney’s “Ice Princess” film

Other works included “Eurotrip,” “Mysterious Skin,” “Black Christmas,” “17 Again,” “Cop Out,””All My Children,” “The Adventures of Pete & Pete,” “Six Feet Under,” “Mercy,” “Law & Order,” “Weeds,” and “Sleepy Hollow”.

She also hosted/narrated several docuseries including “Truth or Scare” and “Meet, Marry, Murder”.
