Filmmaker Jon Favreau and actor Pedro Pascal appeared on stage at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo on Friday to show off a lengthy clip from the upcoming “The Mandalorian and Grogu” film.
The project was initially conceived as a fourth season until industry strikes led to the season being retooled into this film. A new version of the Razor Crest ship will appear in the movie that wrapped shooting back in October.
A bunch of footage from the film was shown, starting with a scene in which The Mandalorian breaks into a room full of stormtroopers in cold weather gear and proceeds to shoot everyone there.
Also seen is Sigourney Weaver, who takes on the role of a Rebel officer who essentially gives Mando his missions. Another scene has AT-ATs walking along a narrow ice path with Mando’s actions sending one tumbling off a cliff.
There’s also the briefest glimpse from behind of Jabba’s son Rotta the Hutt (Jeremy Allen White), complete with buff biceps. Though not officially released online, a bootleg of the clip is out there.
The film, the first “Star Wars” feature since “Rise of Skywalker” six years ago, will hit cinemas next May.
