Lucasfilm Announces New STAR WARS Series THE NINTH JEDI
During Star Wars Celebration Lucasfilm announced something fans of Star Wars: Visions will be excited about with The Ninth Jedi, which will be a full-length series.The announcement came during the final day of the three-day fan event, with Lucasfilm’s Senior VP of Franchise Content and Strategy, James Waugh, stepping on stage to deliver the news. Waugh brought out acclaimed writer and director Kenji Kamiyama, the creative force behind the original Visions short, to break the news to an enthusiastic crowd.Kamiyama expressed his gratitude directly to the fans “for being so supportive and enthusiastic about the adventures of Kara and Juro in ‘The Ninth Jedi’ and the upcoming ‘Child of Hope.’” StarWars.com, “He then announced that fans will watch Kara’s journey continue to unfold in an all-new spinoff called Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi.”Originally released in 2021 as part of Star Wars: Visions, The Ninth Jedi stood out with its unique concept and visual flair. The short followed Lah Kara, the daughter of a legendary lightsaber-smith, as she was swept into a mission to deliver lightsabers to lost Jedi, while being hunted by dark forces. With voice talents like Chinatsu Akasaki as Kara and Tetsuo Kanao as the mysterious Margrave Juro, the episode quickly became a fan favorite and sparked demand for more stories in that universe.Fans will get a taste of what’s to come in the upcoming Visions short “Child of Hope,” which continues Kara and Juro’s arc. It’s part of the upcoming Star Wars: Visions Volume 3, premiering October 29 on Disney+.
