Kendrick Open To “The Accountant 3” Return

While many from the original “The Accountant” film returned for the just-released sequel, there was one notable absentee – Anna Kendrick.

Kendrick played Dana Cummings in the 2016 film’s lighter moments. She is a regular accountant at a robotics firm who notices irregularities in their books, and both she and Ben Affleck’s Christian Wolff have fun chemistry in their scenes together.

With the sequel, the character is notably absent, but franchise director Gavin O’Connor has revealed to The New York Times that should a third film in the series go forward, Kendrick has already pledged to be a part of it.

Of Kendrick’s involvement, O’Connor says he and writer Bill Dubuque:

“…have had some preliminary conversations [about a third film]. I am personally running from another puzzle movie, which we’ve done twice now. One thing we’ve talked about is the idea of bringing Anna Kendrick back. Maybe Christian can finally get the love that he deserves.”

Affleck interjects, saying: “We’re hoping she still likes us” to which O’Connor responds: “Actually, Ben, she and I have been texting. She said she’s 100% in if we want.”

Affleck says he is also ready for a threequel, and is “just waiting for another great script.” O’Connor previously indicated to EW he “always wanted” this to be a three-film series with the second film being a “Midnight Run”-style film that’s also a brotherly love story, and the third being Christian’s “quest for love and connection to be consummated”.
