Kaonashi announce new LP ft. Anthony Green, share “When I Say”

Philly post-hardcore band Kaonashi have announced a new album, I Want To Go Home, due out June 6 via Equal Vision. It’s the follow-up to their great 2021 concept album Dear Lemon House, You Ruined Me: Senior Year and its accompanying EPs, and it brings that narrative to a close. “[Conceptually], this album answers any questions anyone has ever had about the story,” vocalist Peter Rono says, adding “it was written to be heavy, chaotic and overwhelming.”

I Want To Go Home features Anthony Green (L.S. Dunes, Circa Survive, etc) and Piantini Toribio (Newcomer), and the first single is “When I Say.” Watch the video, directed by Vic Antonio, below.

Kaonashi will be on tour through June, including shows supporting Kim Dracula and dates with Sabella, Rakuyo, and Ballist. There’s no NYC show at the moment, but they’ll be in Rutherford, NJ on May 30 at Williams Center, which is with Sabella and Rakuyo. See all dates below.

“I think [touring] has influenced the record because we’ve been playing further out than we ever have to the most people we ever have and [getting] the craziest reactions we ever had this far from this band,” vocalist Peter Rono says. “I can’t help but take that into consideration when I’m writing because it’s really inspired. Before I was just trying to prove to people that we were worth listening to and now we have a dedicated audience, so I want to provide the best music that I can.”
