HBO Has Begun Filming For House Of The Dragon Season 3

A new report shows that HBO has begin filming for House of the Dragon Season 3, the first spin-off series from Game of Thrones. Regular readers will know I’m a fan of this Universe. Yet, I was also critical of Season 2 more than Season 1, which was near perfect. The showrunners made a few choices last Season I just don’t quite understand.

However, the quality was still leagues above Amazon’s atrocious The Rings of Power. Therefore, I’ll absolutley be back to review Season 3 when it drops. It should be said, that whilst filming has begun, we have no release window for Season 3 to mark in our calendars yet.

House of the Dragon stars Matt Smith and Fabien Frenkel recently appeared at MegaCon in Orlando, Florida. As per Collider‘s coverage.

‘Matt Smith and Fabien Frankel, the pair revealed that they’ve received scripts for the fourth, fifth, and sixth episodes for the third season of the HBO Max series. Back in December, the show was said to have started filming in January. Now, it’s confirmed that not only are they filming, but they’re a few episodes deep. The news comes just days after the casting news that James Norton would be joining the third season as Ormund Hightower.’

Smith plays Daemon Targaryen and Frenkel Ser Criston Cole, both on opposite sides of the conflict.

As you can tell above, creator George R. R. Martin wasn’t that happy with some of the decisions made in Season 2 either. I guess it remains to be seen whether Season 3 will be a return to the Season 1 level of quality which was so universally praised.
