With the third season of “The White Lotus” hitting HBO this week, the cast and crew have been out promoting the series – as has HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi whose comments have gone well beyond that of Mike White’s series.

In a new interview with Deadline, Orsi was asked about the future of a number of series at the network. Filming finally got underway on the third season of “Euphoria” this week – a run that is expected to be the final installment. Asked to confirm this, Orsi says:

“We’ve talked about it, I don’t think anything is over until it’s over, but it’s been discussed that this is the end. I think you will be very satisfied with this season, and how we bring each of the characters’ whole narrative.”

She then moved on to other shows with “The Last of Us” coming up. The show’s second season premieres in April and while a third season hasn’t been greenlit, she was asked about show co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann indicating they plan to tell the story over potentially four seasons. She says that’s the most likely scenario:

“We don’t have a complete or final plan, but I think it’s looking like four seasons. I wouldn’t want to confirm that, but it’s looking like this season and then two more seasons after this and we’re done.”

The “Game of Thrones” spin-off “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is designed with three seasons in mind, presumably one for each of George R.R. Martin’s three Dunk and Egg novellas. Orsi confirms that’s the plan they are pursuing:

“You’re going be so impressed by Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell as Dunk and Egg, the two leads. So much so that we’re already planning on how do we build this for the three seasons in total. We’re not picking it up officially, but it’s looking very good. We’re looking at it as a holistic piece, Seasons 2 and 3, because there’s three novellas.”

As for the other spin-off “House of the Dragon,” she confirms the much anticipated Battle of the Gullet will kick off the third season and the move of it to the third season has allowed them to go big with it in a way they couldn’t have done logistically with the second season.

Finally she confirms the fifth season of crime anthology series “True Detective” will be set in New York, specifically in Jamaica Bay on Long Island. Filming on the new season is slated to begin in the coming months, with casting in early stages.
