Sony PlayStation has held its first State of Play presentation for the year today and revealed a number of new titles along with some key release date announcements.
Clocking in at 40 minutes, the biggest reveal was “Returnal” developer HouseMarque’s new title “SAROS” starring Rahul Kohli and due out in 2026.
Also announced was a PS5/PS5 Pro remaster of “Days Gone” with new features like photo, speedrun, permadeath and horde assault modes along with new accessibility options. The remaster will be available as a $10 upgrade for existing owners and comes out on April 25th.
There were some big date confirmations with “Borderlands 4” set for September 23rd, “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater” set for August 28th, “Hell Is Us” set for September 4th, “The Midnight Walk” set for May 8th, the “Onimusha 2” remaster set for May 23rd, the next Dark Pictures game “Directive 8020” set for October 2nd, and “Lost Soul Aside” set for May 30th.
There was a first look at protagonist Miyamoto Musashi in the new “Onimusha” gameplay; a look at the new “Shinobi” from the same team who made “Streets of Rage 4”; and the first gameplay for “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds”; DLC for “Dave the Diver,” “Lies of P” and “Stellar Blade”.
New game announcements included the PSVR2 title “Dreams of Another,” the cute octopus game “Darwin’s Paradox,” the ghostly London-set “Tides of Annihilation,” the “Ruiner” team’s next effort “Metal Eden,” the architectural puzzle game “Blue Prince,” and the co-op game “Abiotic Factor”.
One of the other big reveals was “Mindseye,” a new GTA-meets-Cuberpunk style game set in a fictional near-future Americana. The game is being directed by Rockstar Games veteran Leslie Benzies, lead designer on “Red Dead Redemption” and producer and designer on multiple “Grand Theft Auto” titles, while “Hitman” group IO Interactive is publishing it.
