Gunn Talks Batman, Superman, Peacemaker S2 Status

DC Studios chief James Gunn has been a busy beaver on social media today, the filmmaker has taken to Threads to answer questions about the status of various DC Studios projects.

First up, he’s shot down all the speculation that Matt Reeves has exited “The Batman: Part II” production following his name’s absence from a production newsletter listing. Asked directly if Reeves is still attached, he responded: “Yes. Huh?”.

Gunn says his “Superman” film is almost complete, all that’s left is finishing some VFX and the sound mix: “It’s what’s called latched. Meaning it’s basically latched, but I’ll move cuts around here and there as VFX or music comes in.” The film’s full trailer is ready, but no indication from him as to when it’s launching.

He also confirmed “Supergirl” has wrapped filming altogether, and “Peacemaker” Season 2 is almost at “Superman” levels of complete: “I’ve finished ALL the Peacemaker episodes other than VFX and some score and some DI and sound mixing.”

He’s also still writing a new project previously teased a while back. Asked if it’s one that is already announced or something completely new? he responded ‘new’. However it’s still early in the process: “Pre-writing. Tooling around. I’m deep in finishing Superman and Peacemaker.”

He’s also seen scenes and dailies from the midway through production “Lanterns,” saying only: “It’s so cool.”
