The Hyatt Regency Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui is informing guests that the hotel has temporarily closed its Club Lounge for renovation works until the end of the month.

The club on the 23rd floor is famous for the stunning views and practical service for check-in and check-out procedures, but it will be unavailable for the remainder of May, with an alternate venue on the lobby floor.

Club lounge closures are extremely annoying, and Hyatt used to have a protocol for that where they’d comp you 2500 points for a closed lounge, but in this case, the Hyatt TST is providing an alternate space at The Cafe on the same floor as the lobby, where club lounge amenities are provided.

I must have stayed way over 50 nights at the Hyatt Regency Tsim Sha Tsui and enjoy it much more there compared to the Grand Hyatt in Wan Chai.

I have another reservation coming up soon and received the following email today:

It is my pleasure to welcome you back to Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui!

Kindly be advised that Regency Club Lounge will be undergoing an enhancement work from 5:30 PM on May 6, 2025, until 5:30 PM on May 30, 2025. During this period, Reception and Food and Beverages offerings at Regency Club will be relocated and please take note of the alternate arrangement as below:

  • Regency Club Reception will be relocated on the Lobby level
  • Food and Beverages offerings will be served in Library, the Café  on the Lobby level:
  • Complimentary Buffet Breakfast
  • Complimentary Evening Drinks
  • Complimentary refreshments, tea, coffee and soft drink service

Thank you for your support and kind understanding. We trust the enhancement work will allow us to provide better experience for our guests moving forward. Should you require any further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

I think closing the club lounge for three weeks in order to do renovation works and then moving the location where club amenities are provided to the restaurant is a reasonable solution, although I really like the views from the club lounge.

Given that service is usually good here and I’m only staying for 1-2 nights I think I can survive this little shortcut, plus the rates are rather low this week (especially compared to their newly elevated category when booking on points).

The breakfast at The Cafe is always good, and I can recommend trying it at least once.

The previous compensation Hyatt gave Diamond/Globalist customers only applies when the lounge is closed entirely without proper replacement which doesn’t apply here. Coming to think of it I haven’t received these points for years even IF a lounge was closed (especially in Vancouver).

Conclusion

The Hyatt Regency Hong Kong TST contacted me to update me on a current lounge closure at the property due to some renovation works. I appreciate that the hotel actually takes the time to inform guests about this rather than letting them arrive and then realize it’s closed. This is a much more proper way of doing it.

I’m glad they renovated the lounge and hopefully also changed the tableware, as most recently there were lots of broken plates with sharp edges at the lounge, and it has gotten quite dangerous.

This renovation should be completed by May 30th, and the lounge is scheduled to reopen on June 1, 2025.
