It has been a busy day on the release date front with multiple high-profile projects locking in releases – especially over at Warner Bros. Discovery.
The biggest news is that a December 17th 2027 release is set for Andy Serkis’ “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum” – the first of two new Middle-Earth films in the works.
The trio behind the original trilogy – Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens – return as producers here while Serkis will both direct and star in the lead role. Walsh and Boyens are penning the screenplay alongside Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou.
Next, New Line has announced that “Evil Dead Burn” will release July 24th 2026. Souheila Yacoub stars in the film, which follows on from the success of “Evil Dead Rise” back in 2023. Plot details about the new film are under wraps.
Warners has also set an October 23rd 2026 release date for M. Night Shyamalan’s new supernatural romantic thriller film “Remain” starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Phoebe Dynevor and Ashley Walters.
Shyamalan and novelist Nicholas Sparks are collaborating on the project with the pair coming up with the same original love story together, but then going off on completely different tangents with them. Sparks’ book version hits October this year.
