Jensen McRae released her very good new album I Don’t Know How But They Found Me! a couple weeks ago, and she just began her spring tour supporting it, which stopped in NYC on Wednesday night (5/7) for the first of two nights at Bowery Ballroom. Jensen had the very enthusiastic crowd singing along the whole time as she played her new album in full (but not in order) along with a bunch of songs off 2022’s Are You Happy Now? and a couple off her 2023 visual EP It Wasn’t Supposed To Be Like This. She acknowledged that she’d inadvertently given one They Found Me! track, “I Can Change Him,” the same name as a Taylor Swift song, and also took a little inspiration from Taylor’s Eras Tour, with a “surprise song” section mid-show where she played “Good Legs” and an unreleased song, “Class of ’15.” She’s a powerhouse vocalist live and she brought down the house from beginning to end, when she closed the night with a particularly moving rendition of “Make You Proud.”

Lauren Juzang performed solo to open the night, and her bare-bones indie folk made for a great warm up for Jensen. You can see pictures from the whole night and Jensen’s setlist below.

Jensen will be back at Bowery Ballroom tonight (5/8), and she returns to NYC on her fall tour to play Irving Plaza on October 14. See all dates below.
