11 New Songs Out Today
Hear new songs by Motörhead, Moses Sumney & Hayley Williams, Mark Pritchard & Thom Yorke, Mike Polizze (Purling Hiss), Erika de Casier, Activity, and more.

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
MOTÖRHEAD – “MOTÖRHEAD” (THE MANTICORE TAPES)
Motörhead have announced the release of The Manticore Tapes, the first-ever recording session that Lemmy, “Fast” Eddie Clarke, and Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor made together. It was done at Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s Manticore Studio in August 1976 but shelved, and now it’s coming out on June 27, on its own and as a deluxe edition that also includes the live album Blitzkreig on Birmingham ’77 and the previously unreleased live 7″ Live at Barbarella’s Birmingham ’77. Pre-order either edition here and check out the Manticore Tapes version of Motörhead’s eponymous song.

ERIKA DE CASIER – LIFETIME
Erika de Casier released a surprise new album, Lifetime, out today via Independent Jeep Music. It’s her fourth album, and she wrote and produced it between August of 2023 and November of 2024. “Midnight Caller was actually the first working title for the album, I wanted it to be a form of communication during the night,” she says, adding, “There’s an underlying feeling of mortality, knowing that time is going exponentially faster the older you get, a fear of death and of looking and feeling old and being grateful for what was, is, and will be.”

MIKE POLIZZE (PURLING HISS) – “EVERYBODY I KNOW”
Purling Hiss’ Mike Polizze has announced new solo album Around Sound which will be out July 11 via Paradise of Bachelors. He made the record with regular collaborator and War on Drugs member Jeff Zeigler and says, “While there’s a tone of seriousness throughout the recording—which is just my way of navigating through this chaotic world—inside the songs there is light humor based on fatherhood. As the inscribed LP runout (‘For Bug’) reflects, this album is dedicated to my daughter.” Here’s the first single which is a nice slice of dreamy heartland indie rock.

MARK PRITCHARD & THOM YORKE – “THE SPIRIT”
Mark Pritchard and Thom Yorke release their new collaborative album, Tall Tales, this Friday, and ahead of that they’ve given us a final preview with “The Spirit.”
—
JUAN WAUTERS – “DIME AMIGA”
The tiny co-star of Juan Wauters’ “Dime Amiga” is his scene-stealing daughter. New album MVD LUV is out June 27 via Captured Tracks.

MOSES SUMNEY & HAYLEY WILLIAMS – “I LIKE IT I LIKE IT”
Moses Sumney and Paramoure’s Hayley Williams teamed up for a collaborative single, “I Like It I Like It.” “Hayley Williams and Paramore underscored a large part of my anxious youth, so when I was writing this song about having an angsty crush on someone, I knew there would be no better person to sing it with than the queen of yearning,” Sumney says. “I’m glad we get to get soulful together.”

ACTIVITY – “SCISSORS”
Activity have shared a new single from their upcoming album A Thousand Years in Another Way, and this one features guitarist Jess Rees on lead vocals. She says, “The song is about being intentionally reckless and breaking things apart, knowing you’re doing it. About not being precious, and digging into that pile of parts inside and finding a better way with what you already have,” adding: “I was listening to Beak> a lot at the time.”

TORO Y MOI – “STARS AND SONS” (BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE COVER)
New Broken Social Scene tribute compilation ANTHEMS: A Celebration of Broken Social Scene’s You Forgot It In People is out next month, and they’ve shared another track from it, Toro y Moi’s take on “Stars and Sons.” “I remember first hearing about BSS when I was a sophomore in high school.” Toro y Moi says. “You Forgot It In People especially caught my ear, I thought the production was so ahead of its time— the intros and outros, the interstitials… so much of it informed how I like to make records. I’m so happy to be included in this project.”
—
MIYA FOLICK & HAND HABITS – “ALMOST CRIMES” (BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE COVER)
Also out from that compilation is Miya Folick and Hand Habits’ take on “Almost Crimes.” “You Forgot It In People is one of my favorite albums, and I feel very honored to be part of this compilation,” Miya says. “Meg [Hand Habits], Sasami, and I made this song in Stinson Beach, taking long breaks for walks and meals. It’s long, meandering, and meant for headphones.” Meg adds, “This record led me to deep musical consumption and discovery. Despite being nearly 25 years old, it’s an honor to be included in the commemoration of this collective of musicians. I truly think that without BSS I wouldn’t have made the records I’ve made today, wouldn’t have sought out community in the way I do today, wouldn’t be so addicted to collaboration and reinvention.”

ELWAY – “LAUGH TRACK”
Colorado punks Elway will release their new album Nobody’s Going To Heaven this fall via Red Scare, and lead single “Laugh Track” is the kind of ragged, catchy punk anthem they’ve always done so well.
—
GINA BIRCH (THE RAINCOATS) – “CAUSING TROUBLE AGAIN”
The Raincoats’ Gina Birch will release Trouble, which was produced by Killing Joke’s Youth, on July 11 via Third Man. Here’s the first single.
