Gears of War: Reloaded will be PS5 Pro enhanced when it releases this August, and won’t require PS5 players to link a Microsoft account, it has been confirmed. Yesterday’s announcement of Xbox’s most iconic franchise coming to PlayStation took the internet by storm, and there’s only more good news for those awaiting the game on PS5.
Gears of War: Reloaded was expected on PS5, but the announcement still took fans by surprise
Microsoft has said that Gears of War: Reloaded will allow two-player co-op, versus multiplayer with up to eight people, and full cross-play without the need for a Microsoft account. However, linking an account “unlocks full cross-platform functionality.”
Cross-platform functionality that requires a Microsoft account includes cross-progression across all compatible devices, and the ability to send invites to friends on other platforms.
Microsoft didn’t reveal any PS5 Pro enhancements yesterday, but a PS Store listing for Gears of War: Reloaded states that the game will be enhanced for Sony’s pricey hardware. What has been confirmed so far is 4K resolution and support for up to 120 frames-per-second.
“Experience the origins of one of gaming’s most acclaimed franchises like never before,” reads Gears of War: Reloaded’s PS Store page. “This is the definitive way to experience the game that started it all.”
What a time to be alive!
