Dino Crisis Fans Hoping for New Game Amid Fresh Trademark

Capcom has recently earned a reputation for developing great survival horror remakes beginning with its critically acclaimed Resident Evil 2 remake. Not only do these games reimagine some of the most beloved games of all time, but they bring these stories to current-gen consoles and are aimed at a modern audience. A recent trademark in Japan for the developer’s other beloved survival horror franchise Dino Crisis has sparked hope for fans awaiting Regina’s return.

Is a new Dino Crisis in the works?

As spotted by Gematsu, Capcom trademarked Dino Crisis on March 4 in Japan. What this means for the franchise is unclear. Capcom has not yet commented about the trademark that went public today.

Although everything surrounding this news is currently unknown, Capcom seemingly doing something with Dino Crisis has fans of the franchise excited. Most notably, there is a yearning for a remake in the same vein as its recent Resident Evil releases.

“This most likely means nothing,” says one Redditor. “But also, it confirms a RE2-style remake of Dino Crisis.”

“If I need to wait 5 more years until a RE Engine RE2 Remake-like Dino Crisis, I’ll wait 5 more years,” said another Redditor.

“Capcom, give us Dino Crisis Remake in RE engine and my life is yours,” a Redditor excitedly remarks.

A Dino Crisis remake may not be in the works. Companies file for trademarks often to protect their IP, which is a possibility in this scenario. We will just have to wait and see if anything comes from this in the future.

That being said, Capcom isn’t afraid to bring back some of its classic franchises. Just last month, the developer announced Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is getting a PS4 port this year. It also announced a new entry in the series is slated to release in 2026 in the form of Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
