Assassin’s Creed Shadows is just around the corner. In just two weeks, Ubisoft’s open world action-adventure game will finally travel to 16th century Japan, an era that’s been requested for years. PS5 Pro users will get the added bonus of several graphics options that take advantage of the upgraded hardware and certain displays.

What are the Assassin’s Creed Shadows PS5 Pro enhancements?

Assassin’s Creed Shadows features three graphics modes for both PS5 and PS5 Pro. This is the first game in the series built for current-gen consoles, so every mode, no matter which console you own, will run at upscaled 2160p (4K) with Ray Tracing. How each mode differs is its frames threshold and Ray Tracing settings.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Ray Tracing features are split into three different settings. Depending on the graphics mode picked will determine which settings are implemented. Here are the settings and a brief explanation of each one as described by Ubisoft:

  • Selective Ray Tracing: Used to compute global illumination for diffuse lighting in the Hideout portion of the game.
  • Standard Ray Tracing: Used to compute global illumination for diffuse lighting throughout the game world.
  • Extended Ray Tracing: Includes full support of ray tracing to compute global illumination for diffuse lighting and reflective surfaces throughout the game world.

For the standard PS5, Performance Mode runs at 60 FPS with Selective Ray Tracing, and Fidelity Mode runs at 30 FPS with Standard Ray Tracing. Balanced Mode requires a 120hz or 240hz display and HDMI 2.1, and runs at 40 FPS with Standard Ray Tracing.

For PS5 Pro users, Performance Mode runs at 60 FPS with Standard Ray Tracing, and Fidelity Mode runs at 30 FPS with Extended Ray Tracing. Like the base PS5, Balanced Mode requires a 120hz or 240hz display and HDMI 2.1, and runs at 40 FPS with Extended Ray Tracing.
