Are Radiohead back? Signs point to yes

Things have felt very up in the air where Radiohead is concerned for a while now. Their last album was 2016’s A Moon Shaped Pool, almost nine years ago, and they last played live in 2018. While there have been signs of life since then, most notably a rehearsal Colin Greenwood discussed last year, mostly that sense of uncertainty about their future continued, from Ed O’Brien saying “there’s no Radiohead at the moment” in 2022 to Thom Yorke seeming not to care about the conjecture last year.

More recently, however, there have been a couple more hints about their return, and taken together they are pretty convincing. A source told Resident Advisor that Radiohead have placed holds in “select European cities” for fall residency shows, which follows a listing for four tickets to a “Radiohead concert of your choice” on a Los Angeles wildfire relief auction run by Palisades High School. According to the listing, “These tickets are being donated directly from the band manager and include four tickets only to a Radiohead concert where they will be performing. You will be in direct contact with the manager for ticket arrangements.”

Last week, Pitchfork also reported that all five members of Radiohead formed a new LLC, RHEUK25, for the first time since the 2021 KID A MNESIA reissue. That also suggests that some kind of activity from the band is forthcoming. Hopefully we’ll find out soon.

Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood have been busy with The Smile, and Thom also has a collaborative album with Mark Pritchard, Tall Tales, on the way.

In other news: Radiohead’s second album, The Bends, just turned 30.
