Gavin Newsom’s Podcast Will Derail His Political Career, Its First Guest Charlie Kirk Says | Video

Conservative media personality and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk had nothing nice to say about Gavin Newsom after going on the California governor’s new podcast, “This is Gavin Newsom.”

“I think this podcast might be ending Gavin Newsom’s presidential ambitions, not preparing him,” Kirk told Megyn Kelly on Tuesday of his experience as the interview project’s very first guest.

“We have done a good job of exposing him for being the synthetic fraud that he actually is,” Kirk added of conservative pundits like himself and Kelly. He added, “I will give him credit for having the discussion, they didn’t edit it.”

But when it comes to any higher political ambitions the California governor might have for the White House, Kirk said the podcast is a misstep.

“I don’t think Gavin Newsom is getting his spring training to become a presidential candidate,” he said. “I think he’s actually being exposed as someone who will not be able to get through a Democratic primary.”

Among the things Kirk objected to was Newsom’s over-the-top charm offensive.

“When you arrive and they tell you all this stuff, they’re like, ‘Oh, his son is a fan,’ and all that — it was so over-the-top charm offensive,” he told Kelly.

Kelly noted that the governor is alienating people on the left instead of courting them by having on divisive guests like Steve Bannon, who is opposed to having trans girls compete in women’s school sports, a point that Newsom surprisingly agreed upon.

“He feels the need to get their approval. That’s how it feels. And he’s getting excoriated by the left,” Kelly said. (Everyone from “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin to Jane Fonda had choice words for Newsom for entertaining a far-right guest like Bannon on his podcast.)

“Unlike Bill Maher, who definitely has a touch of the TDS, but can be fair to Republicans, the way Gavin Newsom governs is truly radical,” she continued. “There’s nothing fair about the way he runs California. Nothing … I choose to look at what you’ve done.”
