80s-Inspired Retro Survival Horror Title ‘Blight Night’ Comes to Steam Next Month [Trailer]

Solo developer Nick Duttweiler and Famous Games are bringing their eight-year development of Blight Night to a close, announcing that their “ultimate 80s VHS horror” action game will be hitting Steam next month. Duttweiler’s passion project “captures the lo-fi atmosphere of top-shelf terror, with classic gameplay inspired by titans of the survival-horror genre.”

Blight Night takes place in West Texas, 1986. The town of Golden Springs is now empty, with the residents having been wiped out by an outbreak. You are Sonny Barstow. You stand alone in the decrepit town. With only a handful of supplies and only a basic idea of what the hell is going on, you must navigate a world in collapse and the evil that inhabits it. The only way to survive is to get out there, face those lurking in the shadows, and uncover a mystery that you’re not supposed to understand.

Navigating the decayed buildings and uncover supplies. You’ll also be finding cryptic clues to solve just what went on in the town. However, you’re not alone. The shadows are home to something, requiring you to stay in the light.

Wrapping the experience is the seedy synth and haunting ambience of Blight Night‘s soundtrack, along with its visuals filtered through VHS tape.
