The Minus 5 announce tour with The Baseball Project, share “Blow in My Bag” ft Patterson Hood & Debbi Peterson
Scott McCaughey’s new Minus 5 album ‘Oar On, Penelope!’ is out in May.

Scott McCaughey‘s The Minus 5 have announced September tour dates in support of their upcoming album, Oar On, Penelope! (out May 30 via Yep Roc). They’ll be out with another of Scott’s bands, The Baseball Project, which shares a few other M5 members, including R.E.M.’s Peter Buck and drummer Linda Pitmon, plus Steve Wynn of The Dream Syndicate. Exactly who the lineups for the groups will be is a little unclear, but all dates are listed below.
The NYC-area show of the tour is at Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall on September 21, and tickets for all September shows go on sale Friday, March 21 at 10 AM local time.
The Minus 5 have also shared a new song from their album, “Blow in My Bag,” which features The Bangles‘ Debbi Peterson and Drive By Truckers‘ Patterson Hood. “I had an idea to do a Nancy Sinatra / Lee Hazlewood duet between me and Debbi, but of course, I only mention that because I typically don’t manage to get close enough to elicit comparisons,” Scott says. “That being said, I’m not sure what the song is about, but Patterson’s vocals at the end convince me that he knows!”
