2024 Areas Worldwide Challenge winner Guillermo del Calvo crowned at Barcelona final
Areas USA’s Guillermo del Calvo, who works in food & beverage at Miami International Airport, triumphed in the annual event which recognises the travel restaurateur’s top performing employees.

SPAIN. Global travel restaurateur Areas has announced the winner of the 2024 Areas Worldwide Challenge, an annual event which recognises its top-performing employees.
The event concluded with a grand finale at the company’s Barcelona headquarters on 12 February. Areas USA’s Guillermo del Calvo, who works in food & beverage at Miami International Airport, was proclaimed the winner.
The final was the culmination of months of fierce competition among Area operations teams across the world. It gave Areas regional market winners the opportunity to demonstrate their talents and dedication in the quest to become the ultimate champion.
The Areas Worldwide Challenge serves as an internal incentive programme, tasking managers across various point of sales in Areas business units with delivering operational excellence, ensuring customer satisfaction, fostering teamwork and achieving exceptional results.
Guillermo del Calvo was joined in the final by colleagues from five other Areas regions including Fernanda Rojas (Areas LATAM – Tequila 1800 Bar, Los Cabos International Airport, Mexico); Ines Christ and Christian Carstens (Areas Germany – Spessart Nord Motorway Services); Adalberto Redondo (Areas Iberia – La Vianda, Castillejo de Iniesta Motorway Services); Hakima Boudoyan and Christine Simoes (Areas France – Aire de Mâcon St Albain); and Stefano Iacobelli (Areas Italy – Roma Fuimicino Airport).
