Focus Features has locked in a May 30th limited release followed by a June 6th wide release for Wes Anderson’s new film “The Phoenician Scheme”.
Universal Pictures International will be handling the espionage dramedy’s international distribution. Story details are under wraps beyond it being a “story of a family and a family business”.
“The Phoenician Scheme” will be written and directed by Anderson, with Roman Coppola co-writing. No publicity materials from the film have been released so far.
As per usual for one of Anderson’s fims, the cast is jam-packed. Benicio del Toro stars as Zsa-zsa Korda, one of the richest men in Europe. He’s joined by Mia Threapleton as Sister Liesl, his daughter/a nun; and Michael Cera as Bjorn Lund, their tutor.
Also appearing in the film are Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Riz Ahmed, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Anderson’s most recent work was 2023’s “Asteroid City” and last year’s anthology “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More”. He’s garnered sixteen Oscar nominations and five wins.
