TDE Punch has commented on Kanye West‘s recent comments about old signee, Kendrick Lamar.

Playboi Carti finally dropped his long-awaited third album ‘Music’ last Friday (March 14). Lamar featured on three songs: he did ad-libs for ‘Mojo Jojo’, rapped a full verse on ‘Good Credit’ and helped with the chorus for ‘Good Credit’.

Hours after the release, Kanye West (now known as Ye) tweeted his thoughts on Lamar being on ‘Music’. “I don’t like Kendrick Lamar’s music,” he wrote in all caps. “He raps very good, but I didn’t need to hear him on Carti[‘s] album.”

Roughly 20 minutes after Ye’s tweet, Terrence “Punch” Henderson Jr. – the president of Lamar’s old label, Top Dawg Entertainment – tweeted, asking: “Aye… What’s up with this Kanye West n***a??”

West’s tweet confused many fans as he has recently praised Lamar. Ye congratulated Lamar after the latter won five awards at this year’s Grammys for his Drake diss track, ‘Not Like Us’. The Chicagoan posted a photo of the rapper holding his awards on his Instagram.

The rapper-producer also said Lamar’s Super Bowl headline show was his “favourite since the Michael Jackson era”: “It was super simple, the flag was fresh. When they did [‘HUMBLE.’], the way people’s heads were moving. I was like, shook. This is like, super fresh.

“The man’s voice control and all that. And you know, of course, they built up the controversy on whether he’s going to do [‘Not Like Us’]. And at the end, I saw people saying this is the worst Halftime Show and I’m just like ‘everybody I talked to in real life said this is the best Halftime Show’.”
