‘Tax-Free is Good, Duty-Free is Better’ – Lotte Duty Free unveils dual language marketing campaigns
The campaign, underpinned by an array of online and offline promotions, underlines the allure of duty-free shopping for Korean and foreign travellers.


SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free today unveiled a dual marketing campaign for Korean and foreign customers underpinned by an array of online and offline promotions.
The campaign slogan for Korean customers is ‘Shopping, before you leave’ and for foreign customers ‘Tax-Free is Good, Duty-Free is Better’.
To mark the campaign launch, Lotte Duty Free is offering discounts of up to -70% at offline stores (see details below) until 4 May and a ‘Hot Deal 25’ online event and prize promotion until 11 May.
Lotte Duty Free said the campaign’s purpose is to strengthen the competitiveness of its main business by making it easy for customers to recognce the differentiated benefits of duty-free shops
The ‘Shopping, before you leave’ campaign underlines the fact that outbound Korean travellers can only enjoy duty-free shopping for a limited time before embarking on their trips.
‘Tax-Free is Good, Duty-Free is Better’ emphasises the benefits of duty-free shopping compared to tax-free purchasing and seeks to build awareness of the former.
To amplify the launch, Lotte Duty Free plans an outdoor advertising campaign in major subway stations in Seoul and other places frequently visited by foreign tourists.
A special promotion is also being held to commemorate the launch of the campaign. Until 4 May, Lotte Duty Free offline stores will offer 41 famous brands including Ferragamo, Tory Burch, Estée Lauder, La Prairie, and Johnnie Walker at up to -70% discounts.
In addition, Lotte Duty Free downtown stores will provide up to KRW30,000 (US$21.15) in Pre-LDF PAY to customers who before 31 May present an airline ticket for April or May. An additional KRW5,000 (US$3.50) in LDF PAY will be provided if the customer certifies their duty-free shopping on SNS.
Additionally, domestic customers who are due to travel within two weeks before departure will be provided with up to KRW20,000 (US$14.10) in Pre-LDF PAY until 8 June.
In addition, Lotte Duty Free will host a ‘Just Before Departure Shop’ special event at Lotte Internet Duty Free until 11 May.
Through the Hot Deal 25 event, 25 products from various categories acroos Lotte Internet Duty Free – ranging from popular cosmetics such as Aesop, Decorte and SKII to fashion items such as Maison Kitsune cardigans – will be discounted by up to -65%.
Four liquor brands popular with domestic customers, including Kavalan Grand Reserve No 2, Datsai Umeshu, Cognac XO Border Family Rivers and Kweicho Moutai.
A special coupon giveaway event has also been prepared. Up to -15% discount coupons will be given out every day from 11am to 1pm, and discounts will be provided to customers using affiliated travel agencies, airlines and card companies.
In addition, a 10x L.POINT accumulation benefit will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and up to 50,000 L.POINTs will be given out through a draw.
Lotte Duty Free is also hosting a prize event in collaboration with Jeju Air and the Macau Tourism Board. Domestic customers who purchase over US$200 at Lotte Internet Duty Free and complete the duty-free delivery will be entered in a raffle to win various prizes such as a Jeju Air Macau round-trip air ticket, a Dr. Tangle high-frequency massager, 50,000 Jeju Air J points, Lotte Duty Free special coupons and more.
