Sense of place store brand takes off at five Malaysian airports

MALAYSIA. Malaysia Airports has unveiled a new sense of place store brand in five key international airports across the country.

The Sense of Malaysia stores bring a local dynamic to the country’s airport shopping offer

The Sense of Malaysia stores are now open in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching airports, each showcasing products from more than 30 Malaysian small businesses and artisans.

Local fashion: Clothing and accessories created by Malaysian entrepreneurs and artisans feature prominently in the stores

These include handcrafted batik, artisanal wellness products, traditional Malaysian fashion items and local delicacies.

Each store also incorporates a Kueh Kita Café, which gives visitors the chance to sample Malaysian cuisine.

Jewellery, ceramics, books and wallpaper are among the products available in the colourful stores

According to Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager – Commercial Services Hani Ezra Hussin, the vibrant stores give travellers the opportunity “to take home an authentic piece of Malaysia”.

Introducing Sense of Malaysia in a post on LinkedIn, she said: “Airports are more than just transit points, they’re the first and last impressions of a destination. At Malaysia Airports we have taken this to heart by curating an experience that lets travellers feel Malaysia, not just pass through it.

“I am proud to see this initiative take flight, bringing a true sense of place to our commercial offerings while championing homegrown talent. Because when travellers leave Malaysia, they should take a part of it with them.” ✈
