Reynolds Writing “Deadpool & X-Men” Film

It has been nearly a year since “Deadpool & Wolverine” hit cinemas, but now Ryan Reynolds is finally planning the return of his iconic red-costumed character to the big screen.

THR reports that Reynolds is exploring ideas for a Deadpool movie that would feature multiple X-Men characters. In addition, he is continuing to script the Paramount comedy “Boy Band” after making writing a priority for much of this year.

Reynolds is currently working on several treatments for an ensemble film featuring three or four X-Men characters. Deadpool would appear, but potentially only as a supporting player.

With his character on the sidelines, it could allow X-Men characters to be used in unexpected ways. The project is separate from the previously announced “X-Men” movie that “Hunger Games” scribe Michael Lesslie is writing.

Which X-Men characters Reynolds is considering is not clear, but he would need to to get Marvel’s approval.

The trade adds that it’s “extremely early days and far from becoming a reality”. Reynolds is reportedly working separate from the studio at this stage. It continues a shift of his in recent years to producing and writing.
