Disney has announced a number of release dates with two projects getting their first release dates and one other undergoing a delay.
That delay is Pixar’s sci-fi adventure tale “Elio” which is being moved back by one week. Instead of arriving June 13th, the film will now open on June 20th.
This gets it out of the way of the opening live-action “How to Train Your Dragon” remake opening on the 13th, and puts it up against Danny Boyle’s “28 Years Later” which isn’t a direct threat for the family audience dollar like ‘Dragon’ is.
Next, Raimi’s new horror film “Send Help” will open on January 30th. Rachel McAdams, Dylan O’Brien, Chris Pang and Dennis Haysbert star in the survival tale of a woman stranded on a remote island with her boss after a plane crash and their struggles to stay alive.
Finally, 20th Century Studios has set a September 19th release date for “Ella McCay,” the return of legendary “As Good as it Gets” and “Terms of Endearment” filmmaker James L. Brooks to directing after 2010’s failed “How Do You Know”.
Emma Mackey, Woody Harrelson, Ayo Edebiri, Kumail Nanjiani, Jack Lowden, Rebecca Hall, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Albert Brooks star in the film about a young politician who becomes governor and her struggles to balance her career with her family life.
